Green Peas Nuts Poli | Almond Pistachio Poli

Green Peas Almond Pistachio Poli.Sounds sweet na.Yeah!I prepared this today with some leftover peas in my pantry after used for Kachori. This is my first experience with poli as I dont know how to make it.My mom told to do the stuffing like this and again flat like stuffed parathas.
Poli is a yummy sweet made in South India.Basically the stuffing is made with the mixture of  Bengal Gram,Jaggery,Cardamom powder and dessicated coconut.
I got an idea from that and made this yummy poli:)Having a wonderful greeny poli this evening,i really enjoyed this:)

Using almond, pistachios and sugar you can make this poli yummy and delicious one.I used green peas, almonds and pistachios paste and heat with 2 tbsp of ghee with 3 tbsp of sugar. You got the stuffing now.For the dough, same maida, salt and 1 tbsp unflavored oil.

Lets Start Cooking....

Preparation time:20 minutes
Cooking time:10 minutes
Serves:2

Ingredients Needed:

For dough:
  1. Maida/all purpose flour - 200 gm
  2. Salt - 1/2 tbsp
  3. Oil - 1 tbsp
  4. Water - as needed

For stuffing:
  1.  Green peas - 100 gm
  2. Almond and pistachios - 50 gm
  3. Sugar - 3 tbsp
  4. Milk - 5 tbsp
  5. Cardamom powder - 2 pinch
  6. Ghee /clarified butter - 2 tbsp

Method:

  • For dough, mix maida and salt in a bowl.Add oil andmix well.
  • Add water and make dough as made for chapati.
  • Cover it and kept aside.

For stuffing:

  • Take green peas, almonds and pistachios in a blender.Make paste with 5 tbsp of milk.

  • Heat ghee in a pan and add the mixture along with sugar.
  • The sugar starts melting and starts combines with the mixture.Add cardamom powder to it and stir continuously until it becomes unsticky.
  • The stuffing is now ready.

  • Make balls from the dough and make little poori as shown using rolling pin.

  • Take 1 tbsp of the mixture and  place it centre to it and fold and make a ball.
  • Again gently make little chapatis using rolling pin.Use oil if it is sticky.
  • Make polis like this for remaining dough.

Heat tawa and grease with butter or oil.Place the poli and cook for few seconds.if it get browned, turn the poli and cook the other side.

Tips:
  • Use honey if you do not want to use sugar.it will be more healthy.
  • Add cashews as additional dry fruits. It took the recipe to higher level. It makes the poli even richy.
  • This would be good for health and kids too enjoy this poli.
  • Adding cardamom powder is authentic one.If you want to make it more special, use pineapple essence along with it.
