Karasev | Tea Time Snack

Hi Friends!

There are so many desserts this month. So came with the wonderful crispy karasev as an evening snack. This made from rice flour, roasted gram powder, garlic paste and pepper powder.
This is perfect for winter but not for winter for all seasons.Best tea time snack.
Basically the main ingredient for karasev is Besan flour. But here i used only rice flour along with Roasted gram powder(Pottukadalai powder). My Mom prepare this powder for making pakodas but having an idea to make karasev in murukku maker. The maker that i used is for making mullu murukku.
This will be really different and give crunchy feel in every bite.I am not interested in making fried items like this but my experiment mood leads to make this.Sure you will enjoy this.

Lets start making this....

 Preparation time:10 minutes
Cooking time:10 minutes
Serves:2

Ingredients Needed:
  1. Rice flour - 200 gm
  2. Roasted gram powder - 50 gm
  3. Chilli powder - 1/4 tbsp
  4. Pepper powder - 1/4 tbsp
  5. Garlic paste - 1/2 tbsp
  6. Water - as needed
  7. Butter / Vanaspati - 3 tbsp
  8. Salt - as required
  9. Oil - 500 ml

Method:

  • Take rice flour and roasted gram flour in a bowl and add butter to it and mix well.Adding butter makes more crispy karasevs.
  • Add chilli powder, pepper powder, salt, garlic paste to the flour mixture and mix well.
  • Add water little by little and make a dough as made for Chapati.
  • Take murukku maker and put small amount of dough inside it.
  • Heat 500 ml oil and make karasevs by moving circular motion. It does not stick together and seem like separate ones.
  • Don't stir immediately. After it gets cooked, remove using spatula and drain in tissue paper.
  • Repeat for another set of karasevs.

 Tips:
  • If you want to add besan flour, you can add about 2 tbsp for smoothness.
  • Don't overcook them.It will be like stone after getting overcooked.
  • Best tea time snack for perfect evening.
  • Adding pepper powder is your wish.If you wish, add some sesame seeds.

 Karasev is ready to serve!!!
Have a Lovely Day!!!!
Regards,
Ramya
